i like photo albums. a lot.
ive collected them for about 7 years now and have amassed a group of eclectic albums that span across space and time.
i love to extract all the information on the family i can from their plastic covered pages, as well trying to gain insight into the way these families use the form of the album to document their family history.
my thesis encompasses some of these points, and in this blog, i will discuss some of the methods that can be used to analyze albums, post original photographs that complicate what the traditional family photo or snapshot might mean, and examine the notion of truth in the context of a family album or documentary photograph.
Allison, You have done an excellent job of using this format to explore an idea both visually and true text. I was drawn into your analysis and enjoyed the “proof” of two photographers looking at the same place. Did your experience in class affect your way of shooting? would you need to have two “uneducated” photographers approach the same subject to be a create a more valid argument?
I would imagine that there are many more sources for you to reference on this topic. I am certain that you will have no trouble getting resources for your thesis. It is all particularly relevant because of the evolving, devolving, way in which we are maintaining our personal Image Banks.
Thanks for setting the standard high for this assignment.
